1916: Death of Fagnano (1844-1916)

Fagnano came to the Oratory at the age of fifteen as a seminarian for the Asti diocese. Shortly afterward he returned home, joined the army, and served as an orderly in the Asti military hospital. After his discharge, he returned to the Oratory, took his first vows in 1864, and was ordained in 1868. In 1875, he took part in the first missionary expedition to Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. Years later, the Holy See appointed him Prefect Apostolic of that area. He died in Santiago, Chile, on September 18, 1916. (BM VII, 475 footnote)

1955: Vicuña’s cause introduced

Vicuña, a pupil of the FMA sisters died in Argentina at the age of 12. The first session of the diocesan process for her beatification was held under the presidency of the Salesian Bishop Borgatti, of Viedma (Argentina). Her own sister and some class-mates of the servant of God took part in it. (cfr. “Boll.Sal.” 1955, p.450)
