1882: Death of Count Cays

He was born in Turin on November 24, 1813, of an ancient, noble family. After his studies in law he married and had a son and a daughter. He was widowed at the age of 32 and then gave himself up to works of charity. He generously gave of his wealth and time to the festive oratories of Valdocco, Guardian Angel, and St. Aloysius. A staunch Catholic, he served as deputy in the Subalpine Parliament from 1857 to 1860. He became a salesian and lived a life of simplicity and piety, putting all his talents at the service of Don Bosco and poor youth. He died on October 4, 1882. (cfr. BM XIV, 566)
