1874: Financial straits

The Oratory always experienced financial difficulties. A confrere had to go to Borgo San Martino, but the economer did not have enough money to pay for the journey. Brother Pelazza had a debt of 30,000 lire with the papermerchant who refused to supply any more goods on credit. Brother Rossi had a debt of 60,000 lire with the textile factory which refused to supply any more cloth. These financial difficulties did not discourage the saint. He used to say: “God will come to our help!” (cfr. CDB, 307)
